A former union parishad member was stabbed to death in Jamalpur’s Madarganj upazila Saturday night.
The deceased, identified as 58-year-old Zahurul Haque, was a member of Ward 7 of Jorkhali union parishad.
Police have so far detained seven persons for interrogation.
Zahurul was returning home on his motorcycle when unidentified persons stabbed him near Jorkhali union parishad around 11:00pm, Mahbubul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madarganj Police Station.
He died on the spot. His body bore stab marks in the abdomen and back, he said.
Police sent the body to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
