Asian University for Women (AUW) has launched its Summer School programme for 2023, supported by Chevron.
An inauguration ceremony was organised yesterday (Monday) at AUW campus in Chattogram. Invited guests, students, parents, journalists and representatives from Chevron Bangladesh were present at the ceremony, says a press release.
In 2019, Chevron Bangladesh launched a pioneering partnership with AUW and it has continued its partnership since then.
The AUW Summer School programme is aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of young students to stand out in investigative science-oriented further studies and careers.
This year 70 bright female high school students have been selected from all over Bangladesh to participate in a diversified five-week programme (July 4 – August 3) focused on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Coding and Public Health. These courses will be taught by a cohort of international and local faculty with excellent academic backgrounds.
Representatives from Chevron Bangladesh highly praised the collaboration between AUW and Chevron and expressed their joy in participating in the students’ journey in opting for further STEM careers.
Professor Dr Gawsia Wahidunnessa Chowdhury, recently ranked as one of the top 100 scientists in Asia, was also present at the event as Special Guest. Director of AUW Summer School Dr Selim Reza welcomed the guests and students. Coordinators of AUW Summer School Nujhat Jahan and Sumaya Halim moderated the event.
