Ganatantra Mancha to hold rally Thursday

Ganatantra Mancha yesterday announced to hold a rally on Thursday as part of their simultaneous movement with BNP to realise their one-point demand for the resignation of the present government and election under a neutral one.

Meanwhile, BNP also announced a similar programme at a “youth rally” of the party’s three associate bodies at Suhrawardy Udyan in the afternoon.

Saiful Haque, coordinator of Ganatantra Mancha and general secretary of Biplobi Worker’s Party, made the announcement at a press conference at the central office of the alliance on Topkhana Road.

In a written statement, he said, “The government should step down immediately and pave the way for a free and fair election.”

ASM Abdur Rab, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), said, “Most of the political parties are now becoming united to oust this government. We will not go to the polls under this government.”

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya, said, “People do not want an election under ‘illegal’ government. We have My News Bangladeshted our movement on the streets to restore democracy. We will continue our movement until this government resigns.”
