Referring to corruption and looting in the country when BNP came to power, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘When we develop the country, that BNP-Jamaat starts destroying everything. My father (Bangabandhu) was killed by that Zia (Ziaur Rahman).’He said this on Saturday (October 28) at the KEPZ ground in Chittagong’s Anwara.
The Prime Minister said, ‘During the BNP era, people could not eat a single meal of rice. Today we have tackled poverty. Today we have arranged houses for the people of the country through the Asharyan scheme.’Calling expatriates, he said, “Those who want to go abroad, please do not go abroad by giving money to brokers.”
Sheikh Hasina said about the development as a result of Bangladesh’s entry into the tunnel era and the victory of the boat in the elections, “Today’s development is only possible because you voted for the boat brand (symbol). Whenever the boat came to power, the country has developed.’
Regarding waterlogging in Chittagong, he said, ‘The biggest problem (of Chittagong) is waterlogging. For this (to alleviate waterlogging) we have undertaken several projects.’
The Prime Minister said, ‘We are giving you rice-dal-oil for free. We have also made arrangements for the poor and the underprivileged.’He also said, ‘BNP’s job is to kill. Khaleda Zia embezzled the money instead of giving it to the orphans. His son is convicted in various cases. Convicted in many other cases including 10 truckloads of arms cases.’
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Khaleda Zia came to power by stealing votes in 2001. Today they talk various things, give various programs for the downfall of the government. But Khaleda Zia is a vote thief. And the people of Bangladesh protested and forced him to resign.
Earlier, after the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Tunnel, the Prime Minister toured it as the first passenger with a toll car fleet.Meanwhile, he released commemorative postage stamps, seals and envelopes and commemorative 50 rupees notes at the public meeting.
