Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attended the special convocation ceremony of Dhaka University to award posthumous degrees to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He reached the convocation venue at 10:58 am on Sunday (October 29). At this time, the guests welcomed the Prime Minister with applause.
At around 11 o’clock, after the National Anthem, the President of the Convocation and the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman announced the opening of the convocation.

Special security measures have been taken by police and law enforcement forces in Dhaka University and its surrounding areas around the special convocation of Dhaka University (DU). There is tight security on the roads surrounding the Prime Minister’s arrival. Apart from this, the bus traffic in Shahbagh area is not as busy as on other days but the traffic is normal. An excess of private vehicles over public transport has been observed.
Convocation speaker Bangabandhu and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were present on the convocation stage. The convocation ceremony begins with the reading of the holy scriptures. His family members will receive special degrees on behalf of Bangabandhu at the convocation.
