Hatirjheel police today detained a man in connection with issuing death threat to Ashraful Alom alias Hero Alom over phone.

A police team detained him in Sylhet’s Gopalganj area, Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Md Awlad Hossain told The My News.

“He was being brought to Dhaka,” he said.

Yesterday, Hero Alom filed a general diary (GD) with Hatirjheel Police Station after he allegedly received a death threat over phone.

Hero Alom, an independent candidate of recently concluded Dhaka-17 by-polls, said he received the threat which he believed was a retaliation to his filing of a case for an attack on him on July 17.

Hero Alom was attacked during voting of Dhaka-17 by-polls allegedly by ruling party activists.

He filed the case with the Banani Police Station accusing at least 20 unnamed people for the attack.
