Half of Gaza population starving UN warns. A UN official has warned that millions of people in the Gaza Strip are facing starvation due to the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel.
Describing the dire situation in Gaza, UN World Food Program (WFP) Deputy Director Carl Skau said that aid was getting in much less than needed, leaving nine out of ten residents without food every day.He said the current situation has made it ‘almost impossible’ to deliver aid to Gaza.
Hamas operatives from Gaza broke through the heavily guarded border into Israel on October 7 and attacked.
In response, Israel closed the border with Gaza and started continuous airstrikes there. Since that time, the supply of all kinds of daily goods in Gaza has become difficult.
Only the Rafah crossing with Egypt remains open, through which limited aid flows into Gaza each day.
