Bangladesh Chhatra League activists have taken positions in different places at the Dhaka University campus to prevent BNP’s youth activists from creating chaos inside the campus.
They gathered at Hakim Chhattar and other places, hardly a few hundred meters away from BNP’s youth rally, which is being held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital My News Bangladeshting from 3:00pm, reports our DU correspondent.
BNP associate bodies–Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and Swechchasebak Dal–have arranged the rally with their main objective to involve the young generation in the street movement that seeks the ouster of the ruling AL government to hold the next election under a caretaker government system.
BCL announced that they will take positions in the Shahbag-TSC area.
BCL leaders said they are on alert as they suspect BNP men may try to enter the campus after ending their rally. They are ready to defend the campus from possible “chaos”, they added.
Referring to the recent Mirpur Bangla College incident, DU BCL President Mazharul Kabir Shayan said, “We have seen that BNP’s men carried out an attack on Govt Mirpur Bangla College students. … We are on alert so that no one cannot create anarchy on the campus.”
“We have no plan to obstruct them from political activities. But if they try to create chaos inside the campus, we will prevent them, said Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, general secretary of the BCL DU unit.
