Anti-Islamic political party wins Dutch election. The survey shows that the Freedom Party, which has been in parliament for 25 years, is on the way to winning 35 seats. The Freedom Party is far ahead of its nearest rival, the Left Alliance.

Wilder said, ‘The Freedom Party can no longer be neglected. Now we will run the country.’ If the result is ultimately confirmed, it will be a major shake-up for Dutch politics.

But the Freedom Party will struggle to find coalition partners with them in government. No party has won a single majority of the 300 seats in Parliament. 76 seats are required to form the government. That is why the Freedom Party must form a coalition government.

The three major parties that stand behind the Freedom Party have already announced they will not join a government led by Wilder.

In his winning speech, 60-year-old Wilder said, ‘We want to rule the country and we will rule the country with 35 seats. 35 seats is a big issue and a big responsibility.’

The left-wing alliance is expected to win 25 seats in the election and remain in second position. Fran Timmermans, the leader of this alliance, said that he will not enter into any compromise with the Freedom Party.

Now is the time to protect Dutch democracy and the rule of law, he told supporters. We will not let anyone leave here. Everyone is equal in the Netherlands.

The Freedom Party will try to support the two big parties that are third and fourth in the election. The center-right party led by Dilan Yesilgoz is heading for third place in the polls, while Peter Omtzigot’s New Political Party will come in fourth.

Both the leaders congratulated the Freedom Party for their success. Yesilgoz said this week he would not serve in a cabinet led by Wilder. However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of working with Wilder.

A victory for the Freedom Party led by Wilder would be a major shock across Europe. Because the Netherlands is one of the founders of the European Union.

Nationalist and far-right leaders across Europe hailed his achievement. In France, Marine Le Pen said, this confirms a growing attachment to protecting national identity.

Wilder wants a referendum to leave the EU, called ‘Nexit’. Although he admits that there is no atmosphere in his country to do so.

During the election campaign, however, he changed language, saying there were more important things to do in the Netherlands than banning Islam. That is why he wants to postpone the matter for the time being. His strategy worked and his party won twice as many seats as last time.

Influence on Dutch politics

The result of this election is a bigger shock to society than politics in the Netherlands. Many thought Dilan Yesilgoz of the center-right party, who finished third in the election, would be the country’s first female prime minister.

He came to the Netherlands as a refugee from Turkey at the age of seven and has now taken the strongest stance against refugees.

Many Muslim leaders complained that Mr. to close mosques and Islamic schools. Ms. Yesilgoz has worked to normalize Wilder’s position and open the door of government to the far right.

Miss Yesilgoz, 46, was law minister in the previous government but kept a distance from the three governments. Half of the voters were undecided until the day before the election. But they did not support Yesilgoz.

“If he wasn’t so anti-Muslim, I would be interested in him,” said one Muslim voter in The Hague about Wilder, who won the election.

“I think it’s the first time in the history of Holland that we’ve won 10 seats in a week,” Wilder told the BBC hours before the election, expressing optimism about a victory.

Wilder understands the reality of the difficult road ahead of him to form a government. But he claimed to be a positive man and said his victory would make him ‘difficult for other parties to ignore’.
