This building collapse incident happened on Tuesday (November 28) night. It has been reported that all the workers of the collapsed building were Bangladeshis. It is reported that a building under construction collapsed in Penang, Malaysia at around 9.45 pm local time on Tuesday. After that incident, rescuers are still searching under the rubble for the four missing workers.

Penang deputy police chief Mohd Yusuf Jan Mohd said rescuers have so far found five of the nine trapped workers.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf said, ‘During the incident, a beam about 12 meters long and weighing about 14 tons collapsed and 14 other beams collapsed in this incident. 18 laborers were hired to work on the site under construction. At this time none of them went out for prayer.’

He said, ‘So far, we have identified three victims – two who died on the spot and one died at the hospital. The other two who were seriously injured were sent to Penang Hospital for treatment.

On the other hand, Sheikh Ismail Alauddin of the Bangladesh Consulate said that they are still waiting for details about the casualties in the accident.

He said, ‘We cannot make any kind of statement before knowing any information officially. I have asked the contractor to give details of the victims. Although we know they are from Bangladesh, we need documents to identify them before making any statement.’
