Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a press conference at Ganabhaban on Tuesday at 4 pm regarding her visit to South Africa. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim confirmed this information on Monday (August 28).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home after the BRICS Press conference held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday. The plane carrying him landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:39 am.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Johannesburg to attend the 15th BRICS summit held from August 22 to 24. He attended the Press conference at the invitation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

South Africa hosted the historic 15th summit of the BRICS alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This is the first in-person BRICS summit since the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent global restrictions.

The conference was attended by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister addressed the ‘Bangladesh Trade and Business Summit’ organized by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on August 23 as the chief guest. Later he attended the ‘Bangladesh Ambassador Press Conference’ organized by Bangladeshi ambassadors to African countries.

Bilateral meetings were held between Sheikh Hasina and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Mozambique President Felipe Jacinto Nyusi, Tanzanian President Dr. Saima Sulluhu and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi at the Sandton Convention Center last Thursday.
