Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has made it clear that despite the objections of the alliance partners and the discomfort of the party candidates, there is no opportunity to change the decision regarding the independent candidates. He said this at a press briefing at the Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Kader said, there is no alternative to competition. There is no opportunity for uncontested elections.
Obaidul Quader said that according to the constitution, Awami League has no objection to the army’s duty as the striking force of the election. However, Awami League is against debating the army on all issues.
Awami League General Secretary said, BNP has become a threat to the country’s elections and democracy. Therefore, the overall democracy of the country is in the face of crisis.
Some people and some parties like BNP give bad name to foreigners to make the country short. Blockade of BNP means bus fire, secret attack.
Kader warned that the January 7 election cannot be thwarted by violence, conspiracy and terrorism. Strict action will be taken in case of violence.
Central Awami League leaders including Awami League joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, organizing secretary BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain and Sujit Roy Nandi were present in the press briefing.
