Schneider Electric has introduced a new modular, flexible approach for integrating smart panel functions into regular household electrical systems. This solution, which includes new Square D Control Relays and the Schneider Energy Monitor, provides homeowners with countrywide app-based control that is easier to install and less expensive than current smart panel solutions.
This solution will give homeowners with smart panel features such as circuit-level management to conserve energy and improve safety, as well as system-wide energy monitoring. Whether they are replacing an old Square D QO Plug-on Neutral electrical panel or building a new panel, this will allow homeowners to add smart functionality only where it is required to better monitor their energy use and lower their utility bills.
“We are facing new and increasing challenges in powering our homes due to electrical grid resiliency issues and rising utility power costs,” said Pape Ndaw, senior VP, Home & Distribution Hub-North America, Schneider Electric. “We are thrilled to bring to market an easy-to-install solution that will enable homeowners across the country to address these issues.” Unlike some smart panels, this allows homeowners to use the app to control only the loads they need to control, making it a cost-effective alternative for app-based monitoring and control of home energy usage.”
These solutions are available from electrical distributors around the country and may be quickly and easily installed by a licensed electrician. The Square D Control Relays are designed to snap immediately into the Square D QO Plug-on Neutral breakers, while the Schneider Energy Monitor can be installed in the panel simultaneously. The software allows the homeowner to rapidly commission both devices, allowing them to monitor and regulate their energy use from their mobile device.
