4 people have been shot dead in the clash between two groups of the Awami League over dominance in Munshiganj. Among them is a child. The incident took place on Bakultala-Solarchar road in Adhara Union of Munshiganj Sadar at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The police and eyewitnesses said that due to the spread of dominance in the area and previous disputes, the supporters of the former member of Adhara Union Parishad and the general secretary of the union, Awami League Suruj Mia, and the supporters of Ali Ahmed, the president of Ward No. 3 of the same union, clashed and exchanged fire. At least 4 people were shot, including a child and a pedestrian in a battery-operated autorickshaw.

Later, when they were rescued and taken to Munshiganj General Hospital, the doctor quickly sent the 3 shot victims to Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital.

The doctor in charge of the emergency department of Munshiganj General Hospital. Ferdous Hasan told The Mynewsbd, ‘Three people, including a 7-month-old child who was shot, have been sent to DMK Hospital. Apart from this, first aid was given to another person who sustained bullet injuries.’

Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Dev told Mynewsbd, ‘Police have been sent to the spot after receiving the news. Now the situation is under control. No one has been arrested yet. But the police operation is going on.’
