Another 39 Palestinians were released from Israeli prisons. After freeing 13 Israeli hostages from Gaza, the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) released 39 more Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
IPS said they were released from three different prisons: Megiddo, Ofer and Damun. All of the detainees are women or minors 18 years of age or younger.They all lived in the West Bank or East Jerusalem and have been returned home. All of them were charged or convicted of security breaches, including attempted murder. But no one has been convicted of murder.
A four-day ceasefire went into effect in Gaza on Friday. According to the agreement, Hamas released 13 Israelis, all women and children. At the same time, Hamas also released 11 foreigners on Friday. Among these foreigners, 10 are citizens of Thailand and 1 is from the Philippines.
While 13 Israelis were to be released on Friday under the terms of the deal, Hamas also released 11 foreigners. Hamas said they released them out of ‘courtesy’.
39 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons were also released on the same day. Under the terms of the deal, Israel would release three prisoners for every one hostage.
