The much-anticipated Dhaka Elevated Expressway is about to open in phases, with the Airport-Farmgate part turning operational on September 2, as introduced by Street Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

Throughout a press briefing at Setu Bhaban in Dhaka, the minister revealed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Airport-Farmgate part, whereas the Bangabandhu tunnel shall be opened on October 28.

This 11-kilometer phase, extending from Hazrat Shahjalal Worldwide Airport to Farmgate through Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, and Tejgaon, will present an alternate path to the airport highway, identified for its heavy congestion.

That includes 15 entry and exit ramps, and the expressway’s goals to alleviate site visitors’ points by enabling vehicles to bypass congested intersections and roads. Notably, the expressway shall be restricted to autos aside from three-wheelers and bikes, permitting speeds of as much as 80 kilometers per hour.
